SUMMER HOSTING PROGRAM

The Summer Hosting Program is tentatively scheduled to begin the fourth week of June with the most likely arrival dates as June 22, 23 or 24, 2010. The Afghan children and their adult chaperons arrive for a six-week stay with American families. The most likely departure dates for the groups are August 3, 4, or 5, 2010.

Mandatory host family meetings will be held Monday, June 7, 2010. This important session will bring host families from around the community together for the first time. Final schedules and plans will be discussed as the Solace community prepares for the arrival of the Afghan children.

Medical screenings will take place Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27, 2010. Health professionals from around the community volunteer their time to give each child a physical, dental and optical examination. Follow-up care will be scheduled as needed during the remainder of the children's six-week stay.
