Program Overview

Solace For The Children is a 501(c)3 organization of volunteers that provides medical and dental care to needy children. We do this primarily through a summer hosting program in which children from Afghanistan come to the United States and stay with American families during the summer for six weeks while they receive treatment. The cost of bringing the children here is covered by sponsoring churches or other groups in the area. The local medical community donates their services to treat these special children.

As you might imagine, hosting one of these children is a life-changing experience, but the effects reach beyond individual homes. Friendships develop between Afghan children of differing ethnic backgrounds, host families of differing denominations, Afghans and Americans, and local Christian and Muslim volunteers. Solace For The Children believes that these relationships are the beginning of a foundation for lasting peace between Americans and Afghans, one person at a time.

Solace For The Children is committed to demonstrating God's love by providing a framework for humanitarian efforts to deliver medical, dental, optical care and emotional and educational fundamentals to children in need.
